We are excited to announce we will offer Group Virtual Consultation sessions again during the 2023-2024 school year. September 28th, 2023, will be the first Group Virtual Consultation Session this school year, and there will be a total of 4 sessions offered.

Birth of the Virtual Consultation

One positive result that came out of the pandemic was the embracing of virtual meetings by the education industry. During the height of the pandemic, we could only offer virtual training and workshops. Once society returned to normalcy, our company resumed in-person training and moved away from virtual training. While virtual training is beneficial and convenient, it was clear that it wasn’t a supplement to in-person training.

That said, we discovered that virtual consultations are an equally beneficial alternative to in-person consultations. Because virtual consultations are in the format of a virtual meeting, they still maintain some semblance of the personal connection you get from an in-person meeting. What virtual consultations offer that in-person consultation cannot is logistical convenience. It is much more convenient and cost-effective to schedule a block of time to meet online than to coordinate a date for a consultant to visit your school or district.

Dedicated vs. Group Virtual Consultations

While dedicated virtual consultation sessions are more convenient and cost-effective than in-person consultation sessions, there are still some challenges. For instance, there is still a time commitment of 90 minutes to 2-hours. Also, scheduling multiple consultation sessions throughout the school year can become costly. Based on feedback and brainstorming, we offered Group Virtual Consultation Sessions as an alternative to dedicated group consultation sessions last school year.

Group Virtual Consultation Format

  • Cost Efficient - Think of our Group Virtual Consultation Sessions like the Uber Pool of consultation sessions. Because you’re sharing the time, you also share the cost significantly less than a dedicated virtual consultation session.

  • Save The Dates - We have determined four dates throughout the school year for group virtual consultation sessions.

  • Time Commitment - Time is one of the most precious educational resources, and our Group Virtual Consultation Sessions are structured to give you more autonomy over time. Those that register to participate in our group virtual consultation sessions will be able to participate in a shared 90-minute to 2-hour consultation session with other participants from around the country. You can participate the whole time or come and go as your schedule allows.

  • Questions & Answers - Just like with a dedicated virtual consultation session, you and your team will have the opportunity to ask questions that you might have regarding your Restorative Practices initiative. Another added benefit of the group virtual consultation session is that you can listen to the responses to other participants’ questions during the session. Because of this, the pressure is not on you or your team to continuously ask questions.

Sessions Schedule

Group Virtual Consultation Sessions

Start/End Times: 1:00-2:30 pm EST / 12:00-1:30 pm CST / 11:00 am-12:30 pm MST / 10:00 am-11:30 am PST

  • These are virtual consultation sessions that are designed to be more like Q&As. At the moment, there aren't any specific topics or focuses for each individual session. The intention of these sessions is to allow those that have contracted training with me in the past or have attended one of my workshops to have continuous support opportunities throughout the school year. As people are implementing after they participate in a training or workshop, they often have questions that arise and are looking for some specific guidance. The sessions are intended to create a cost effective opportunity for past clients to get the support they feel they need. Because they are sharing the time with other clients, they have the opportunity to hear others' questions and my responses at a fraction of the cost of a dedicated virtual consultation session.

  • You will receive one unique token per registration to access the group virtual consultation. The token you'll receive grants one time access to each group virtual consultation session from one computer or device. Once the unique access token you are provided is used to access the virtual consultation session, it can't be used again.

We envision most participants will have a small team meet in a setting such as a conference room to participate in the session. This will enable the team to collaborate and brainstorm about the questions they would like to ask. Ideally, the team will identify one or two individuals to ask questions on behalf of the group. I think districts will have to determine what makes the most sense logistically when deciding how many logins they will need.

One option is purchasing one registration and bringing the coaches as well as other people you want to participate together from around the district to a centralized location (i.e. boardroom at central office).

Another option is purchasing multiple registrations for the coaches or some schools which would allow campus teams to participate with the coaches from their respective campuses.

Both options have benefits and challenges but I think the better option is based on your preference. My only recommendation is choosing an engaging setting like a conference room or large office that can accommodate a small team.

  • If you are unable to attend and need to request a refund, you must submit your refund request in writing SEVEN (7) DAYS prior to the scheduled date of the session(s). Submit all refund requests to billing@leavingthevillage.com. If you submit your refund request within SEVEN (7) DAYS of the workshop, you can be provided with a credit that can be applied to future virtual group consultations.

  • The tokens for each virtual consultation session will be sent out the Monday before the Wednesday session. The tokens for the Monday session will be sent out the Thursday prior.
